General

All Criterion DVDs we offer are brand new and manufacturer sealed. Most of the Criterion DVDs are Region 1 (North America) encoded unless indicated otherwise on the item description page.

To make purchases with CriterionDVD.com you should register an account online. Registering an account is free and would allow you to receive your order confirmation emails, shipment notifications, maintain your wish list, and receive other important notifications such as discounts and coupons. You will also be able to view your invoices and order status changes online 24 hours a day when you log into your account. Check My Account: Order History  section for details on any order you have placed with CriterionDVD.com.

Address Book Entries

You can create multiple address book entries in your account. You can have one entry for your personal orders, another one for your friend, and yet another one for business purposes.

International customers: Having different shipping and billing addresses for the same order may trigger a fraud alert and require additional order verification.

CriterionDVD.com stock status system is easy and always updated. Stock status is defined in the following way:

Available – product is in stock and available for immediate shipment.

Low – we have low quantity left; your order might not be shipped the same day or can be back ordered.

On Order – we currently do not have any items available, we ordered them from the studio; the item cannot be checked out.

Out of Print – item is not in production.

Pre-order – product will be released in the future; product will be shipped the day before it is officially released by the studio. Additional shipping charges may apply (See our Pre-Order Shipping Policy).

Pricing

We do our best to keep information as up-to-date as possible. But sometimes errors may occur. We reserve the right to refuse orders placed with erroneous pricing.

Canceling an Order

Once placed the order cannot be canceled online. Please contact our Customer Service as soon as possible at help@criteriondvd.com . Orders can be canceled provided they have not been shipped.

Backorders

CriterionDVD.com provides online stock status for all items we sell. We try to maintain significant inventory levels so that backorders do not occur but they do happen in rare occasions.

Pre-orders: Domestic Shipping

To reserve a copy of the DVD and avoid confusions in the future we will charge the credit card at the time the order is placed. Please note that for additional security we do not store credit card numbers on our servers and will not be able to debit any card at a later time. To cancel an order please contact us via email.

Combined orders containing already released and pre-ordered titles are split into multiple shipments. The released titles are shipped immediately and pre-ordered titles are shipped as soon as they become available.

Please note that if preferred shipping option is used for a combined order only the first batch will be shipped via Priority Mail, all subsequent ones will be shipped via Regular Mail.

Pre-orders: International Shipping

To offset the high cost of international shipping all orders containing pre-ordered titles will be held until the title with the latest street date is released unless the customer is willing to pay an additional shipping fee.

All orders are shipped Monday-Friday (Major US holidays are excluded). Orders with in-stock items will ship the same day if placed before 4:00PM EST.

Domestic Shipping

USA Regular

Standard method of shipping is via USPS Media Mail or First Class Mail. Standard delivery usually takes 3-18 days.

Standard shipping in USA is FREE!

USA Priority

Preferred method of shipping is via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. Priority Mail delivery typically takes 2-4 days.

$4.50 for up to 6 discs/weight units*
$6.50 for 7 discs/weight units
$7.50 for 8 discs/weight units
$8.50 for up to 25 discs/weight units
$15.00 for up to 50 discs/weight units
$25.00 for up to 75 discs/weight units

Please Note: Multiple discs in box sets count as multiple items.

7% sales tax is added to Florida orders.

* Weight unit - some items include heavy booklets, brochures or custom cases. Therefore, a single item may be assigned two weight units or a box set may be assigned an additional weight unit when calculating the shipping charges.

Intrenational Shipping

Canada Regular

Standard method of shipping to Canada is via USPS First Class International Mail. Standard delivery usually takes 4-15 days.

$2.20 for the first disc/weight unit* and $1.10 per disc/unit thereafter.

Shipping to Canada for orders containing 3 or more items is FREE!

Canada Priority

Preferred method of shipping to Canada is via USPS International Priority Mail. Priority Mail delivery typically takes 2-7 days.

$9.00 for up to 6 discs/weight units*
$16.00 for up to 12 weight units
$24.00 for up to 25 weight units
$32.00 for up to 31 weight units
$48.00 for up to 50 weight units
$58.00 for up to 60 weight units

Worldwide Regular

Standard method of shipping worldwide is via USPS International Airmail:

$5.00 for the first discs/weight unit*
$8.20 for 2 weight units
$9.80 for 3 weight units
$11.00 for 4 weight units
$12.20 for 5 weight units
$2.20 per weight unit thereafter

Worldwide Priority – May not be available for some countries. Priority Mail delivery typically takes 5-14 days.

USPS International Priority Mail to select countries:

Note: A street address is required for all international shipments. Delivery to P.O. Boxes is not available.

Customs

We are not responsible for any customs taxes, import duties, or any other applicable charges which may be incurred once the package reaches your country. We have no jurisdiction over these expenses and cannot determine what they may be. Customs polices vary widely from country to country. Please contact your local customs office for further information.

Delivery Time

We guarantee timely shipping of your orders. However, once they are in the USPS system we have very little control over it. Sometimes mail can be slow or a local customs office may cause delays. Please allow 15 business days from time of shipment for Domestic Priority and 20 business days for domestic Media Mail delivery, 20 business days for USPS International Priority Air Mail and 30 business days for USPS International First Class Mail. If you do not receive a shipment within these wait times please contact us at  help@criteriondvd.com regarding this issue. All reports for undelivered shipments must be received within 90 days of shipment notification. CriterionDVD.com accepts no responsibility for lost shipment reports after the expiration of the 90 days.

At CriterionDVD.com we accept the following payments online: American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and PayPal. You may pay by mail with: money order, cashiers check, well concealed cash (not recommended, at your own risk) or personal check. CriterionDVD.com is secured with GeoTrust's Secure Socket Layer certificate utilizing the highest level of encryption and security possible. This means you can be rest assured that communications (e.g. credit card numbers) between your browser and this site's web servers are private and secure when the SSL session is activated.

American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card

If you are purchasing with a credit card for the first time, we will contact the issuing bank to confirm your identity. We will only ship to the verifiable billing or work address. International orders may require additional verification. You may be asked to fax your credit card front and back images or the most recent credit card statement.

PayPal

We accept PayPal from all verified domestic and international customers. PayPal is integrated with our site; you will be re-directed to PayPal to make your payment at the end of your transaction.

Money Orders, Cashiers Checks and Cash

All money orders, cashiers checks and cash should be in US ($) dollars. You must make your payment payable to: CriterionDVD.com

Personal Checks

We only accept domestic (USA) personal checks. All personal checks will require 5-10 business days for clearance. Please make your personal check payable to: CriterionDVD.com

All “pay by mail” payments must be received within 10 days from the day of purchase.

Defective/Damaged Item Returns

If you receive a defective item, we will exchange it for a copy of the same item, provided the item is still available in our regular inventory. If the item is no longer available, or has been reissued by another studio, or is no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty, this warranty is void. Items should be returned within 30 days of purchase.

Some models of DVD players cannot play certain DVDs. CriterionDVD.com is not responsible for discs that cannot be played on such systems.

Returned items must be in their original factory packaging.

Non-defective Item Returns

Only sealed, unopened items will be accepted for credit, exchange, or refund within 30 days of purchase. Items must be in "like new" condition in order for us to issue credit. Any items not meeting these conditions will be returned to you and no credit issued. Credit will not be issued for shipping charges and you will be charged a shipping charge for exchanges.

Bootlegs Top ↑ 

Due to the great success of The Criterion Collection some of the DVDs have been copied and are being produced illegally, especially be aware of fake out-of-print titles. We do not believe that any of our customers would intentionally want to buy a bootleg copy of any Criterion DVD.

Must know "red flags":

1. If the price is drastically low. Be cautious if the DVD price is significantly lower than the MSRP (retail price).
2. If an out-of-print DVD has a low “Buy It Now” price. Out-of-print DVDs are no longer being produced and tend to be worth more than those still in circulation.
3. When purchasing from Asia, look to see if the DVD cover has any Asian characters on it. There have been multiple bootlegs made with this slight difference on the DVD cover. We will soon have a list with images of covers we know about.
4. The seller admits that it is a bootleg or copy. Sadly, some sellers do try and make money off of these.
